Understanding Family Sponsorship in the UAE
Any foreign national holding a valid UAE residence visa can sponsor their immediate family members. This process involves proving your eligibility—primarily through your salary and profession—and providing official documents like attested marriage and birth certificates.

The dependent visa grants your family members the same residency rights, allowing them to live in the UAE, attend school, and in some cases, work. Who Can You Sponsor?
Sponsor Your Spouse
You can sponsor your husband or wife by providing an attested marriage certificate.
Sponsor Your Children
Sponsor your daughters of any age (if unmarried) and sons up to the age of 25 by providing attested birth certificates.
Sponsor Your Parents
You can also sponsor your parents, which has special requirements, including a minimum salary and proof of being their sole supporter.
Minimum Salary Requirement
To be eligible, the sponsor must meet a minimum salary threshold, which varies but is typically around AED 4,000 per month.
Document Attestation
All official documents from your home country (like marriage/birth certificates) must be legally attested.

Dependent Visa FAQs
What is document attestation?
Attestation is a legal process of certifying documents so they are officially recognized in the UAE. For family visas, this usually involves getting stamps from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your home country and then the UAE Embassy.
Can a sponsored wife work in the UAE?
Yes. If a wife is sponsored by her husband, she can work in the UAE. Her new employer simply needs to obtain a work permit (labour card) for her from the Ministry of Human Resources.
Do my children need a medical test?
The mandatory medical fitness test for residence visas is only required for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. Children below this age are exempt.
How long is the dependent visa valid for?
The validity of a dependent’s visa is linked to the sponsor’s visa. For example, if the sponsor has a two-year visa, the dependent’s visa will also be issued for two years and must be renewed at the same time.
